Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon - Deirdre Fleming, ACCA Student, NUI Galway graduate After graduating with a degree in Information Technology, I worked for a multinational telecommunications company for a number of years. Working for a large company developed my interest in business and after discussing my options with friends and family in the accountancy profession, I decided to pursue the ACCA qualification in 2007. I chose ACCA as it is a highly reputable qualification which is recognised globally and it also afforded me the flexibility to begin my study while working in a non-accountancy role. In 2010 when I was halfway through my exams I joined Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon as an audit trainee. I chose Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon as it is a well-regarded accountancy practice. The firm has an excellent reputation in developing the core skills of their trainee accountants. Since the beginning of my training contract I have been given great opportunities. In my role as an audit trainee within the firm, I am involved in all areas of accountancy and work with a range of clients. Challenging tasks have been delegated to me, but the support network is always there if help is needed. Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon is dedicated to the personal development of individuals within the firm, with a strong emphasis on passing exams. I am currently progressing through the second half of my training contract, having sat my final two exams in June 2011. I am confident that the experience I am gaining via my work in Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon and my ACCA studies will help me build a successful career within the accountancy profession.
